Smart Wellness Report is an independent health publication written for readers in the United Kingdom. We cover nutrition, metabolic health, gut health, fitness and everyday wellbeing — the subjects that generate the most noise online and, too often, the least reliable information.

Our remit is simple: take the health claims that people are actually encountering — in newspapers, in adverts, on social media — and check them against what the published research supports. Sometimes that means confirming a claim. Frequently it means qualifying it, and occasionally it means saying plainly that the evidence is not there.

Our editorial standards

Every article published on Smart Wellness Report goes through the same process.

Research

Articles begin with the primary literature. Where we cite a finding, we work from the published study, meta-analysis or systematic review rather than from a press release or a secondary summary. Where the evidence base is thin, we say so in the article itself.

Review

Health content is reviewed before publication by our editorial team, which draws on input from qualified clinicians, registered nutritionists and dietitians. Reviewers check that claims are proportionate to the evidence, that the mechanisms described are accurately represented, and that appropriate safety caveats are included — particularly around interactions with prescribed medication, pregnancy and existing medical conditions.

Language

We avoid the vocabulary of miracle cures. Supplements and dietary changes produce gradual, modest effects; anything promising dramatic short-term transformation is treated with scepticism, and we will say so in print.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we correct it. Readers who spot an error can write to us at editorial@smartwellnessreport.com and we will review the article and update it where a correction is warranted.

Commercial relationships and affiliate links

Smart Wellness Report is funded in part by affiliate commission. Some articles contain links to products, and if you buy through one of those links we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Any article containing such links carries a disclosure notice.

Commercial relationships do not determine our editorial ratings. Products are assessed on ingredient transparency, the strength of the evidence behind the ingredients used, the absence of harmful additives, reader-reported outcomes and value for money. A product that fails on those criteria does not get recommended, regardless of whether a commercial arrangement exists.

What we are not

We are a publication, not a clinic. Nothing on this website constitutes medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it is not a substitute for a consultation with a qualified professional. If you have a health concern, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking prescribed medication, speak to your GP or pharmacist before making changes to your diet or starting any supplement.

If you need urgent medical help, contact NHS 111, or call 999 in an emergency.
